With the rapid increase in demand for smart buildings and energy efficiency, lighting systems are moving toward more efficient and precise sensing and control. MEAN WELL has recently launched the DLS-2XX series DALI-2 Infrared (PIR) Motion Sensors, combining DALI-2 international certification with high-sensitivity sensing technology to provide a stable and reliable smart lighting front-end solution for diverse application scenarios.

The series includes two models: the DLS-203-P (low-altitude installation) and the DLS-208-P (high-altitude installation). Both comply with the IEC-62386 standard and can be paired with MEAN WELL’s DLC-02 controllers, LED drivers, and other DALI-2 equipment to build digital lighting systems. These systems enable light switching, brightness adjustment, and scene management, meeting the dual requirements of modern architecture for lighting quality and energy efficiency.
 

I. Product Features

The products utilize PIR (Passive Infrared) pyroelectric sensing technology and include built-in ambient light detection. They can accurately capture human movement signals and perceive surrounding light intensity in real-time to achieve automatic light switching, dimming, and scene transitions. DLS-203-P: Supports a typical installation height of 3 meters with a detection radius of 3–4 meters. DLS-208-P: Supports a typical installation height of 8 meters with a detection radius extended to 5–6 meters.Available in both recessed ceiling mount and surface mount structures to meet different environmental needs.
 

 

II. DALI-2 Smart Lighting System Configuration

The DLS-2XX PIR motion sensor integrates with the DLC-02 controller, DALI touch panels, and LED power drivers to form a complete DALI-2 smart lighting system solution. Through a standardized digital communication architecture, the system not only improves stability but also significantly simplifies design, installation, and subsequent maintenance.

III. Application Scenarios

As a core sensing terminal for smart lighting, the DLS-2XX sensors are particularly suitable for areas with frequent traffic and short stay durations, such as pantry rooms, corridors, and stairwells.The sensors react quickly to instantly turn on lights and adjust brightness.Lights are turned off after a set delay once personnel leave, ensuring a comfortable experience while effectively reducing energy consumption.This balance of intelligent control and energy efficiency makes them an ideal choice for commercial offices and public buildings.
